How are Essential Oils Used?

For over 5000 years, the use of plant aromatics accompanied civilization wherever it spread. Now its called Aromatherapy and its used in our present day health and beauty therapies.

Massage uses touch as a way to deliver aromatherapy. Essential oils are diluted in lotions or carrier oils such as grapeseed oil, and nourish the skin and enhance the goals of massage. The aromas of the essential oils help balance your state of mind through the brain's limbic system.

In Skin Care, the natural substance in many essential oils and hydrosols aid in gentle cleansing and are known for their antiseptic and antioxidant effects. They can help tone, sooth or stimulate tissues, even influencing the generation of new cells.

In Bath and Spa, the age-old practice of using aromatics in the baths and steams is still very popular in todays spas. Blends of fragrant essential oils can be customized to meet your individual needs and used in tubs, body wraps, facials and scrubs. These nourishing blends help reduce the effects of stress, soothing the senses and restoring the body.

What are your favorite essential oils and how do they make you feel?

I love tea tree and lavender - very soothing and calming - I just had a bath last night with both...

I agree with Pat, I also like the smell of Lavender especially if I'm about to go to bed. Nothing like a nice, soothing bath before sleeping time :)

you know what else...we have Mexican lavender growing in our backyard (also surrounding wild areas) and my hubby is so allergic that he starts choking and gagging, but when I use lavender EO, he doesn't...I don't tell him it's in there...BTW, I like DARK chocolate and red wine!

I can smell the aromas as I read this post. Did you put something in it?

I LOVE Aromatherapy and love it not only all over my body, which is delicious!, but also in space I design. I love using a couple of drops on a cotton ball and hiding in and around a room, a drop on a lamp shade where the heat of the bulb dispenses the scent and of course through diffusers. Depends on the mood I want to create as to what scent I use...of course lavender in bedrooms is soothing...I love to hang eucalyptus branches in the shower, good cleansing...and I do love geranium, sandlewood etc... So many scents! And of course, chocolate and red wine are fab in any setting! : )

I am a HUGE Eclipse Spa fan, and your lavender massage oil is one of my favorites. It's smells beautiful (can always tell when I buy "aromatherapy" with a cheaper product), is not sticky and so relaxing-and the next night my pillow still smells great!

I love the lavender massage oil for evening and I'm with Sharon on the others! But not just any EO - the only ones I love and use are yours!
